This latest eruption in Iceland started on March 16, 2024 and is the 7th eruption in three years on the Reykjanes Peninsula and the 3rd eruption of 2024!
The 2021 eruption started on March 19th and lasted for six months, creating a large lava plateau and numerous craters. The eruption was the first eruption on the Reykjanes Peninsula since the 14th century and follows three weeks of over 50.000 earthquakes in the area.
On August 3rd, 2022 a new eruption started and a new crater started forming and new lava got added to the already extensive lava plateau.
On December 18, 2023 there was a new volcano eruption near Sylingafell. This was Iceland’s 4th eruption on the Reykjanes Peninsula!
On January 14, 2024, there was a brand new eruption near Grindavik. Unfortunately, this eruption is causing damage to homes and infrastructure.
On February 8, 2024, there was a another eruption in the same volcanic system
On March 16, 2024, the 3rd eruption in as many months occurred between Hagafell and Stóra-Skógfell. The source is closer to Stóra-Scógfell, in a similar place to the eruption that occurred on February 8.

The volcano is a natural wonder and we cannot guarantee visible lava at the time of your tour. Lava flow can change at any moment. The tour will still operate even if there is no lava flow.
There is a 4 person minimum passenger requirement.

All our flights are weather dependent and we have to abide by the rules and regulations set in place by the Department of Civil Protection and Emergency Management. If we have to cancel your flight due to weather or other factors out of our control, we will try to reschedule your flight or give you a full refund.
Due to the nature of the flight, we can not accommodate children under the age of 2 years old on this tour. Exceptions can be discussed for private tours.

You are required to be at the meeting point on time, arriving 30 min before the scheduled departure time. Unfortunately we cannot wait for late arrivals and hence, arriving late will result in an automatic cancellation of the booking and a full forfeiture of the booking fee.

We will charge a cancellation fee of 100% if booking is cancelled 1 day or less before event
We will charge a cancellation fee of 50% if booking is cancelled 3 days or less before event
We will charge a cancellation fee of 10% if booking is cancelled 14 days or less before event

People’s lives have been negatively affected forever from these series of eruptions. 4,000 people have been evacuated from the town of Grindavik and some have already lost their homes and possessions. Take the opportunity to donate to the Red Cross to help those in need.
