Detailed Itinerary and What to Expect
Reykjavík: Starting Point
Your adventure begins in Reykjavík with our fast and efficient pickup service. We offer direct pickups from a wide selection of designated locations throughout the capital region. Pickup is completed within 30 minutes, ensuring we have ample time to explore the Golden Circle's incredible sites and attractions.
Kerið Volcanic Crater
Estimated to be around 6,500 years old, the Kerið Volcanic Crater is a breathtaking natural wonder. This remarkably preserved caldera measures 170 meters in diameter and 55 meters deep, with an aquamarine blue lake nestled at its base.
Visitors can marvel at this geological phenomenon from the crater’s rim or descend via a wooden staircase to the water’s edge. Either way, the sheer scale and beauty of Kerið are sure to leave a lasting impression.
A small entrance fee helps maintain and protect this site, and this fee is included in your tour price.
Friðheimar Greenhouse and Horse Farm
At Friðheimar Farm, you’ll experience two of Iceland’s unique treasures: the Icelandic horse and geothermal-powered horticulture.
Meet the Icelandic Horses: Known for their small stature, strength, and friendly nature, these horses are renowned for their five unique gaits. Enjoy a demonstration and get up close to these fascinating animals.
Greenhouse Tour: Iceland’s geothermal energy is harnessed at Friðheimar to grow tomatoes and other produce in otherwise challenging conditions. Learn about this innovative process on a guided tour of the greenhouse.
After the tour, sample some of the fresh produce and enjoy a leisurely lunch at your reserved table.
Please note: Lunch is not included in the tour price.
Gullfoss Waterfall
Translated as "Golden Falls," Gullfoss is one of Iceland’s most powerful and awe-inspiring waterfalls. Part of the Hvítá glacier river, which originates from the massive Langjökull glacier, Gullfoss showcases nature’s raw power.
Winter Flow: 80 cubic meters of water per second cascade over the falls.
Summer Flow: This surges to an incredible 140 cubic meters per second.
Feel the refreshing spray long before you see the falls—a small price to witness this majestic natural spectacle up close.
Geysir Geothermal Area
Located in the Haukadalur Valley, the Geysir Geothermal Area is where the English word "geyser" originates.
Strokkur Eruption: While Geysir itself is dormant, its sibling, Strokkur, erupts every 5–10 minutes, shooting boiling water and steam up to 20 meters high. Visitors are captivated as it bubbles and builds anticipation before its spectacular eruption.
Explore the Area: Walk among bubbling hot springs, steaming vents, and fascinating geothermal pools.
Thingvellir National Park
Our final stop is the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Thingvellir National Park, a destination of immense geological and historical significance.
Geological Importance:
Situated on the boundary of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, Thingvellir showcases the effects of continental drift, with the plates moving apart by 2cm annually.
Walk through the dramatic Almannagjá Canyon, a rift between the two continents.
Historical Significance:
Thingvellir is the site of the world’s oldest continuous parliament, the Althingi, established in 930 AD. Here, Iceland’s early settlers gathered annually to resolve disputes and form laws. The Althingi met at Thingvellir until 1798 before relocating to Reykjavík.
Reykjavík: Return and Drop-Off
After an enriching day, we return to Reykjavík. Guests will be dropped off at their designated hotel or bus stop, bringing the tour to a close.
